Explosion Kills One, Injures Another

One man is dead and a woman is severely injured when a house they were inside exploded on November 12, 2008. Neither of the two were residents of the house. Randy W. Porter, 54, was killed in the explosion while Toni A. Brothers suffered injuries including burns to her body. The two mentioned above were working on the house throughout the day and other people were there in spurts as well. Brothers was found in the yard around noon, was treated and taken to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus by Winfield Emergency Medical Services. Debris had scattered all throughout the yard and broke a fence that surrounded the property, which suggested to fire and police officials on the scene that the explosion was intensive and extremely strong.
