Father Charged in Baby's Death

The father of a young baby has been charged with the death of his own four month old daughter. Noe Barron Jr., 21, was arrested on Monday December 1, 2008 and charged with the murder of his four month old daughter. His daughter was admitted to a hospital during the final week of November with signs of shaken baby syndrome. Barron is from Wichita, Kansas, and faces first degree felony murder charges as well as child abuse charges. He was also arrested Friday November 28, 2008 on child abuse charges. Medical emergency crews arrived at W 21st Street and said that the baby was not breathing upon arrival. Officials claim that the 19 year old mother of the baby will not face criminal charges since she was at work when the incident occurred.

Two other young children, both boys, were taken from the home and placed in protective custody but have since been released to other family members. The ages of those boys were one and three years old. This is the eighth death of Wichita children under the age of four. Six of those deaths are being blamed on child abuse.
