Judge Orders Inquiry into Schneider Jail Treatment

An inmate at Butler County Jail has asked for an investigation regarding unfair and cruel treatment towards her. The investigation was granted by U.S. District Court Judge Monti Belot. Schneider was placed in solitary confinement without cause and is claiming unfair and cruel treatment. Schneider has been jailed for a running a pill mill with her husband that resulted in 58 accidental overdose deaths. She is awaiting a February trial and was placed in confinement late in November for possession of a hair tie, which was seen as contraband by one of the guards on duty. She received the hair tie from a nurse on duty at the jail so she could her hair off her neck because of a staph infection.

This is the second time in a year that Schneider has been placed in solitary confinement since she was arrested. The first time occurred when she tried to talk to a reporter while on the phone with her sister. She and her husband have been charged with 34 counts in an indictment for directly causing four deaths and contributing to 21 deaths.
