Lawrence Officer Struck By Car

A Lawrence police officer was injured when trying to stop a vehicle officers had been pursuing following a burglary. The chase went through Shawnee County. The incident happened around 11am Tuesday morning when Lawrence police responded to a burglary in progress at the 3100 block of Tomahawk in Lawrence. A chase was the end result of the incident that went through Shawnee County. Police blocked off a section of US 40 until around 5pm that evening to ensure the safety of other members of the public. Traffic was re-routed onto Douglas County 1023 Road while the Kansas Highway Patrol reconstructed the accident scene involving the vehicle being pursued and an officer.

Police arrested one woman, whose named has yet to be released, around 12pm Tuesday afternoon. No further information regarding the burglary in progress, the chase, or the accident was immediately released about the situation or the condition of the officer involved in the accident. Sherriff officers from Douglas and Shawnee county assisted the Kansas Highway Patrol in the chase and the accident investigation.
